In these bright new times of hospitals recruiting for all they are worth for every discipline under the NHS umbrella, there are so many different areas of medicine available to us for careers. Schools are not particularly well known for having strong and robust careers advice teams. Obviously the very famous public schools network will offer mor than the average secondary modern comprehensive – it is very much in their interet to advice their expensively kitted out students pointing in the right diretcion for thei chosen university, military entrance or whatever. No student should enter their A level exams without even a rough idea of where these will lead them – if they have a career in mind, they will have researched for year before sitting, what exactly they need to meet the entry standard. Schools tend to stream students from the first year and constantly reassess their abilities so there should be surprises when O and A level choices have to be made.
